VTS or Vocational Training Schemes (now being called Specialist Training Schemes) are how a doctor becomes a GP.
At present a 3 year course, with 18 months work in practice. Ran via the MRCGP scheme with the defining assessments of the Applied Knowledge Test (AKT-written) and the Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA- practical) with WBA (Work Bases Assessment) as a method of continual evaluation.
