Resilience and self help

Tools to help you practice and help support patients

Guidance and support can often be lacking in primary care when it comes to resilient practice. One of the best resources I have seen is a group called Resilient GP.

Also useful is a community about all those letter requests that we get which are essentially ‘get a note from your doctor’ or GANFYD.

A key issue that crops up is about prescribing benzodiazepines for sedation particularly for travel. Courses that help patients with this fear and a sensible alternative to prescribing sedating medication are provided by British Airways and Easyjet.

Anxious patients or parents may not be aware how to self care. When should I worry is an excellent resource for patients to refer to.
